Players’ Status Committee of FIFA announced its verdict in the dispute between Iran and Marc Wilmots and ordered the Iranian Football Federation to pay 6,137,000 Euros in compensation to this Belgian coach; In addition, the Iranians must pay an amount of about five thousand euros as a court fee to the Status committee. Therefore it seems that a grand total of Euros 8,142,000 so far goes to Wilmots.
The Iranian Football Association, with the help of some legal experts, will challenge the verdict of the FIFA before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). The jurisdiction of CAS is defined in article 58 of the FIFA Statutes, whereby appeals against final decisions passed by FIFA’s legal bodies and against decisions passed by confederations, member associations or leagues must be lodged with CAS within 21 days of notification of the decision in question.
